Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai

On the 100th birthday of Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai, one of the famous scientists considered the father of India's space program, Google made a doodle while addressing him.

Vikram Sarabhai was born on 12 August 1919 in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Vikram Sarabhai ji died on 30 December 1971 at Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Dr. Vikram Sarabhai considered science education compulsory for the public today. He believed that science has the potential to solve many problems in life. He founded Ahmedabad in 1966 Established Community Science Center. The center is currently known as Vikram Sarabhai Community Science Center.

Dr. Homi Jahangir Bhabha, widely recognized as the father of the Indian nuclear science program, supported Dr. Sarabhai in the establishment of the first rocket launch center in India. The center was established at Thumba near Thiruvananthapuram, on the banks of the Arabian Ocean, primarily in view of its proximity to the equator. Vikram Sarabhai received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 1962. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1966 and 1972.
